Continue your romantic journey by heading south for three nights at the adult-only luxury hotel, Kura Design Villas, an exclusive location high in the Uvita rainforest. This area is known for its impressive surf, black-sand beaches and the lush jungle-clad foothills of the Talamanca mountains. Don’t miss the opportunity to spot dolphins in the surf, hike to the Nauyaca waterfalls and visit the Marino Ballena National Park for the best whale watching in the area or snorkeling.

At Kuvita Design Villas, there is no other place like this in Costa Rica: contemporary and minimalist masterpieces woven with references to the local indigenous culture, different from the palm-thatched motif of most Costa Rican hotels. There are eight luxury suites and they each feature 180° views across the rainforest to the ocean beyond, open floor design, iconic glass showers and all the creature comforts of casual cosmopolitan. Dining is a delectable highlight of the Kura experience. Every dish is a fusion and prepared to tell a story and revolves around pure, organic, responsibly-sourced and 100% local ingredients. Make sure to try the smoked wahoo on the Carpaccio menu! Cantilevered platforms throughout our rainforest path welcome you to experience the peaceful sounds of nature while enjoying a massage, practicing yoga or spotting wildlife. Below are the activities included during your stay:

  • Sensorial Pathways: Take a morning walk with our Chef for the day's menu or roam with our passionate botanist through a tasteful journey of sweet perfumes.

At the scheduled time, you will depart to Liberia International Airport for your flight to Quepos La Managua Airport. Nauyaca is comprised of two waterfalls, one standing at 45m in free fall and the second at 20m with a tiered fall, forming a 1,000sqm and 6m deep pool. There are also other smaller natural pools where visitors can enjoy the waters and swim. Day 6: Kura Design Villas - Whale Watching

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by a local guide for a Whale Watching Shared Tour. Get to know the Marino Ballena National Park inside out with this tour. Depart by boat from Punta Uvita Beach and visit the famous Whale’s Tail sandbar formation, Ballena Island, Tres Hermanas Islets and Ventanas Sea Caves. During your tour, search for Humpback Whales (seasonally) and two different species of resident dolphins. With some luck, you might hear the song of the Humpback Whale and observe the acrobatic displays of the dolphins. Other species that are seen occasionally include Bryde’s whales, pilot whales, false killer whales and whale sharks. You will also visit the coral and rock reefs to snorkel and observe more wonderfully colorful marine wildlife.

For 8 months out of the year, both Southern hemisphere humpbacks traveling from Antarctica and Northern hemisphere humpbacks traveling from Alaska frequent this segment of Costa Rica's Pacific coast where they mate, give birth and raise their calves. The best time to visit for whale-watching is mid-July to October and December to March. Dolphins, orcas and sea turtles are also visible here year round.
