DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 01 | WELCOME TO RIO DE JANEIRO!

Welcome to Rio de Janeiro! Upon arrival to the airport, you will be met by your English Speaking Guide & promptly transferred to your Hotel. This evening is yours to settle in and explore the surrounding area on your own. Let us or your hotel concierge know if you’d like reservations for dinner at one of the city’s hottest restaurants!

DAY 02 | RIO DE JANEIRO

After a hearty Brazilian breakfast, your guide will be ready to take you on a fascinating visit to the Christ Statue, recently elected as one of the seven modern wonders of the world. The statue sits 2,300 ft. above sea level, atop Corcovado Hill. Following a scenic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to the foot of the hill, you will embark on a small train which climbs the beautiful mountainside. Upon reaching the top, prepare to be wowed by a stunning panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is known as the “Marvelous City”!

Enjoy tonight at your leisure, dining at a fancy restaurant or bar hopping in one of the city’s many eclectic neighborhoods!

DAY 03 | RIO DE JANEIRO

After breakfast this morning you will be picked up for your next adventure. Over a million tourists every year visit the world famous Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf Mountain), which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising up from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined sugar loaf. The first cable-car takes passengers to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its islands. From Urca Hill, continue in a second cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360 degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado and downtown Rio.

DAY 04 | RIO DE JANEIRO - MANAUS/AMAZON

Early this morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Manaus. Once arriving in Manaus. you will be met by your guide and transferred to the cruise pier where you will embark on your Amazonian adventure! Once all guests have boarded the intimate Motor Yacht Tucano, the vessel will depart upstream on the Rio Negro. Throughout the morning you will cruise through the world’s largest river island system, the Anavilhanas Archipelago. The magnificent tangle of vegetation at the water’s edge can be easily seen from the vessel’s observation deck. You will soon enter a wilderness area where both shores are covered by dense rainforest. Keep your eyes peeled for pink river dolphins and a large collection of exotic birds. Late this afternoon, your first excursion will commence as you embark in launches and search for wildlife. Perhaps go for a swim in some of the world’s cleanest and most refreshing water!

DAY 05 | LAGO TURIA

Early this morning hop into a launch and explore the rainforest along the waters edge. Hear, and perhaps see, howler monkeys amongst a morning serenade of toucans. After breakfast, go for a walk in the forest and learn about the wondrous ecology of the Amazon. Around midday, return for lunch and the vessel begin its journey with a possible stop to swim. In the late afternoon head out again in a launch to explore the forest and listen to the sunset chorus of birds and frogs.

DAY 06 | RIO NEGRO

Wake up early to explore the waking forest, hopefully seeing some monkeys in action. Return for breakfast followed by either a walk in the forest or an excursion in the launches. M/Y Tucano will travel during the middle of the day before an afternoon stop for an excursion. Sail through the night under the starry sky, taking this evening to relax and enjoy the steamship!

DAY 07 | RIO NEGRO

After two morning excursions The M/Y Tucano will navigate the heavily forested shore, scouting for wildlife. Stop for a visit at a settler’s home that’s been carved out of the forest itself. Early this afternoon the ship will near an extraordinary river called the Rio Jaueperi, where you will see the varzea forest, a floodplain with vast wet grasslands and floating meadows. We will scout along the shoreline for some of the extraordinary creatures found only in this unique environment, such as fish, dolphins, and even the mighty jaguar. Weather permitting there will have a night excursion to observe nocturnal creatures.

DAY 08 | RIO NEGRO

Today the ship will voyage to the west side of the Rio Negro, where you will again scout in a launch and walk in the forest, exploring interesting habitats rarely reached by visitors. Tonight the M/Y Tucano will head downstream to complete a morning arrival near the confluence with the Amazon River. Glide under the starry sky and perhaps sip the national drink of Brasil, the “Caipirinha” before trying a bit of samba on the top deck.

DAY 09 | AMAZON RIVER

After breakfast this morning, explore the Lago Janauari Ecological Park where the thick water of the Amazon flows swiftly through the forest. This area is usually a very good place to observe wildlife. Around midday the vessel will travel to the “Encontra das Aguas” a stark several miles long line where two of the world’s largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro, join in a turbulent maelstrom. Here, the dark water of the Negro runs beside the opaque brown water of the Amazon. In the afternoon, scout one of the area’s hidden streams to see more of the Amazon’s beautiful and bizarre creatures. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner and prepare for an early morning departure.

DAY 10 | DISEMBARKATION IN MANAUS & DEPARTURE

Early this morning, after a hearty breakfast, all guests disembark from the M/Y Tucano. Your transfer will be waiting to take you to the international airport for your departure flight to your final destination!
