TRIP HIGHLIGHTS

Imagine springtime in America’s Serengeti: bears waking up from their long winter naps. Wolves active around dens with their pups. Bison venturing out with their rusty colored calves. Foxes are teaching their kits to hunt and pounce. The landscape abounds with feathered, furry and fuzzy baby animals! Our trained biologists lead participants to the best sites for viewing these creatures. Along the way we enjoy the hesitantly budding flora of Yellowstone. This fantastic adventure may also include stops at iconic Old Faithful, the colorful Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and the terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Welcome to Jackson Hole!

Fly into Jackson, Wyoming and head to the Lexington Hotel. When you land, please call the Lexington Hotel Shuttle (307) 733-2628, for a complimentary ride. Enjoy the afternoon and evening hours exploring bustling downtown Jackson at your leisure - there are many shops, galleries and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 2: Grand Teton National Park / Bridger-Teton National Forest

Your Expedition begins at 6:00am in the lobby the Lexington Hotel, with an early morning drive through  Grand Teton National Park and Bridger-Teton National Forest, offering numerous opportunities to view and learn about the local flora and fauna. Our biologists know the best areas for viewing moose, elk, bison, mule deer, pronghorn and bear. Learn about the ecology, geology and local history while traveling in comfortable, customized, safari-style vehicles. Following a provided lunch, enjoy a short walk through nature. Return in the late  afternoon, completing an exciting day of observing and learning about this magnificent ecosystem.

Day 3: Yellowstone National Park

After breakfast and check out, get ready to journey through dramatic Grand Teton National Park, home to one of the largest elk herds in North America. We will search for moose and bears along the prime riparian habitats of Jackson Hole. Following a mid-morning brunch we head into Yellowstone National Park, the world’s first National Park. The midday hours will be spent exploring the geothermal basin near Old Faithful. After seeing the famous geyser erupt, we head north to Mammoth Hot Springs to continue our safari in the scenic Lamar Valley in search of bears and wolves, enjoying a light field dinner en route. After dark, we drive to our accommodations in Cooke City, Montana.

**Late April, Early May dates will access Yellowstone via the West Entrance on Day 3.

Day 4: Lamar Valley in Northern Yellowstone

Early this morning, return to Lamar Valley, in hopes of witnessing the morning hunt. A light field breakfast will be provided. Mid-day will provide an opportunity to explore the predators’ habitat on foot. We continue to search for bison, pronghorn and coyotes, as well as Grizzly and Black bears. After dark, we will return to Cooke City for the night.

Day 5: Hayden Valley / Jackson Hole

After swinging through Lamar Valley for one last look, we will say goodbye to the region mid-morning and head to enjoy a hearty lunch. Afterward, we will tour Hayden Valley, favored habitat for grizzly bears. Our return trip may include stops at the colorful Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, crowned by a waterfall more than twice the height of Niagara Falls! We return to the Lexington Hotel in the early evening. Enjoy a relaxing dinner on your own in town.

Day 6: Departures from Jackson Hole

Enjoy a hearty breakfast before checking out of your hotel. After breakfast, hop on a shuttle transfer provided by the hotel to Jackson Hole Airport for departure flights home.
