Want to know more about our company's background, staff and services? The more you know about us, the more you'll understand just how much we can do for you.
Prior to his career in travel, Adam G. Carter studied abroad in Europe and Latin America, and received his MBA in International Marketing from NYU (spending a semester in Rio de Janeiro at UFRJ/ COPPEAD). Afterwards he spent several years in New York on Madison Avenue in the advertising industry, honing his skills in product development and promotion. Looking to combine his love of travel and marketing, he left advertising and in 1984 opened Brazil Nuts Tours, a company dedicated to creating innovative special interest tours. Under his direction, Brazil Nuts Tours became recognized as a leader in such key travel segments as Ecotourism, cultural tours and corporate meetings and incentives. His love of Brazil and passion for tourism led him to explore the country widely, making his company the first to offer destinations, itineraries and properties off the beaten track. In 2007 Adam was elected Chairman of the Brazil Tour Operators Association, the leading association of travel companies selling Brazil in the US, whose members represent 90% of all package tours to Brazil sold in the US.
As a lifelong traveler to South America (quite literally; her first trip to Brazil was at six weeks old!) Julia has an enthusiasm when it comes to the region and years of experience understanding which destinations work best for which type of travelers. She received her undergraduate and post-graduate degree at the University of Miami in Latin American Studies with a focus on political economy. She worked for many years in both Brazil Nuts’ Naples headquarters and Rio de Janeiro local office. After living in South America and a subsequent career in the international banking industry which sent her back and forth to Brazil for many years, Julia returned to the family business to pursue the field she most loves: travel.
With almost 10 years now at Brazil Nuts/Craft Travel Group, I have come to call Rio de Janeiro a second home, explored Paraty, Salvador da Bahia and Praia do Forte. Spent 6 days and nights exploring the Amazon and its many diverse lodges. One of my most adventurous trips led me to the majestic Iguassu Falls and an incredible trek thru the Northern Pantanal. In 2012 I spent a week trekking Machu Picchu, the ruins of Cusco and historical Lima in Peru. In 2013 I found myself in the enchanted Galapagos Islands snorkeling with sharks and sea lions! Most recently I spent time getting to know Buenos Aires and my third trip exploring Iguazu Falls. I am always looking forward to sharing my impressions and experiences with prospective travelers and helping to make it a "once in a lifetime" experience for all.
Donald travels 30 weeks a year as a live sports camera operator. Spending part of his downtime time managing his Airbnb and the other part researching travel and technology.
At Craft Travel Group Donald manages the website, design and implementing new technology to promote visitor retention and guest interaction. He is passionate about travel and the way technology will provde a better way to travel in the future.
I have been in the travel industry for almost 20 years, of which 06 years have been dedicated to working at Brazil Nuts. My primary responsibility is operating and overseeing group travel, especially large institutional programs for universities and corporations. I have the opportunity to travel with some of the groups throughout South America and lucky enough to have traveled to the Amazon several times, escorting a group of 120 students on a 3 day Amazon riverboat expedition. I was born and raised in Sao Paulo, where I was accustomed to outdoor activities in the mountains. Therefore, my favorite destinations in Brazil are: The Chapada Diamantina in the state of Bahia (Lencois)! It is a great eco-destination and completely unlike anything else in Brazil and Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, in the state of Minas Gerais.
There has always been a lifelong element of travel and exploration for Mateus Da Costa. A path that has circumnavigated him around the world, volunteering and coordinating in the Galapagos Islands, studying abroad and visiting 11 countries in Europe, Africa and South America, and leading rugged wilderness trips for youths on the rocky coast of Maine. A native to his home country of Brazil, Mateus is well experienced to the many exotic destinations our South American neighbors have to offer. From guiding in the remote Amazon Rainforest to climbing in the footsteps of the ancient Inca’s in Machu Picchu, his well rounded knowledge of the region combines well with his passion for leading and organizing trips for adventurous spirits to the breathtaking and eye opening wonders of South America.
MISSION & HISTORY
MISSION & HISTORY
Craft Travel Group began as Brazil Nuts Tours in 1985 on the proposition that travelers needed a travel company that combined the highest level of customer service, unmatched product expertise and competitive rates. Over the years, we have succeeded in our mission, and have developed a reputation as the experts in travel to Brazil and South America. Our dedicated and knowledgeable staff has helped thousands of travelers discover the Brazil they really wanted to see, and the South America they never dreamed of. Now in Naples, Florida, Craft Travel Group can proudly point to our competitive advantages:
Our knowledgeable staff will customize your perfect itinerary free of charge; simply fill out our Trip Planning Sheet, send it to us and you'll have an answer, generally within 24 hours.
We were the first travel company in North America to develop and promote eco and adventure programs. We were also the first to design culture tours to educate the client on the local native communities in which they visit. Nobody offers more interesting programs to more of South America.
We have our own offices throughout South America responsible for negotiating the very best hotel and service rates possible, and then handling all our clients' needs once they arrive in country.
We are the company of choice for any kind of travel needs to South America:
Customizing your itinerary with our city packages means you can travel any time you like. If you opt to take one of our Tour Packages you may have to schedule your departure on a certain day of the week to coordinate with certain flights; please refer to each tour for details.
By their very nature, most of the ecological and adventure programs are escorted by special guides. However, the majority of our programs-- both City Packages and Tour Series-- are "Hosted". This means in each city you visit, a guide meets you at the airport, assists you at hotel check-in, gives you a tour of the city and is always available to help you during your time in that city. This way, independence and flexibility, but also have a "friend" in each city. And by the way, our guides are one of the best assets; a warm, caring guide can make all the difference on a trip, and we are proud to say that ours are among the best...letters from our clients prove it.
A tough question, because it again depends on your tastes and budget. However, please ask about our "Craft Travel Select" partners, indicating our recommendations for the "best" options in each city, based on price, value and style.
Our city packages don't since your ultimate airfare will depend on the final itinerary you choose. Once you have filled out our "Trip Planning Sheet", we'll quote you the lowest discounted fare for your trip. On the other hand, our Air & Land packages already include specially negotiated airfares and represent an excellent value.
Curious, discerning travelers of all ages and backgrounds! You will see from our client testimonials that our passengers are looking for interesting experiences, value, security and fun. And these are exactly the qualities our programs offer. South America and Craft Travel Group can provide something for everyone.
We have contracts with all the major carriers to Brazil, and when quoting your itinerary we will use the routing and carrier that offers the best combination of schedule and low fare. If you have a preference, please be sure to let us know.
If you're absolutely sure you want a specific tour, then by all means go ahead and purchase in advance. It will not cost you any more to do so. And a great advantage is that we have the best chance to book the very special guides we work with (they are excellent and very much in demand -- see our section on "People to Meet" to learn more about them!) However, if you are in doubt, you can wait until arrival in a city to book. In any case, the local guides who meet you at the airports during your travel (assuming you order airport transfers from us) are happy to orient you upon arrival in each city and discuss the tours and other options (not to mention restaurant, club and show recommendations).
